AN EVENING WITH… CAROLINE BOTTOMLEY

OCTOBER 14TH - 6:30PM

Join us for an evening with Caroline Bottomley , founder of Shiny Awards and Radar Music Videos, one of Pitch magazine’s 100 Superwoman. She was also Head of Programming behind the success of the legendary Sheffield venue, The Leadmill during its golden years in the 80’s and 90’s.


Shiny Awards was formed by Caroline, aiming to give the best start to emerging directors hoping to build a career in commercial production. Shiny’s network spans hundreds of APA & AICP production companies, agencies and brands including Universal, Sony, Warners, BBC, GiffGaff, ENGINE, Saatchi, Facebook etc.


Caroline will talk about Shiny and it successes. She will share recent works from new directors promoted through Shiny to leading commercial agencies. She will talk about how the commercial production industry works outside London and what they look for from freelancers, directors and designers and photographers they hire to direct.


For the second half of the evening Caroline will deliver a career surgery where the braver filmmakers in the audience will pitch themselves and ideas to Caroline who will design a career plan for those wanting to work in the commercial sector.

AN EVENING WITH… MARK KNOWLES

AUGUST 5 - 6:30PM

On 2nd September at 6:30 pm, you will have the opportunity to meet Mark Knowles, a Sheffield based filmmaker.


One of his latest films is self-shot by NHS staff, and former nurses, during the last 16 months of the COVID pandemic in Sheffield, Liverpool, and London.


Mark is going to talk about the cross over (from his perspective) of mental health and filmmaking.


He will show a variety of clips from different pieces of film work that map onto his journey and the work he wants to do in Sheffield in the future, supporting contributors in the film who need extra support due to poor mental health and mental illness.


The evening will start at Aria Bar, where you can enjoy a free pre-event cocktail with your ticket, followed by showing film clips and the Questions & Answers session.

AN EVENING WITH… REBECCA MARK-LAWSON

AUGUST 5 - 6:30PM

Join us for an evening with Rebecca Mark-Lawson, the inspiring founder of Tyke Films, a production company formed in 2015 to produce work with original voices - working at the intersection of documentary and fiction.

In 2018 Tyke Films was selected for Creative England’s CE50, celebrating the achievements of the best up and coming, innovative and disruptive companies across film, games and digital tech.


On 5th August at 6:30 pm, you will have the opportunity to meet Rebecca Mark-Lawson, a Sheffield based producer and also shortlisted for the Breakthrough Producer category at the British Independent Film Awards.


The evening will start at Aria Bar, where you can enjoy a free pre-event cocktail with your ticket, followed by  film clips and a Q&A session.

AN EVENING WITH… SEAN MCALLISTER

JULY 1 - 6:30PM

On 1st July at 6:30 pm, you will have the unique opportunity to meet Sean McAllister, the multi-award-winning documentary, writer and director.


The evening event, launched by Angel Street Kinema, includes showing film clips and the Question & Answers session.
